Even as far as the third point goes, for those of us who have read the book and seen the movie, it is obvious that Vidhu Vinod Chopra lifted Bhagat’s novel, tweaked the storyline a bit, changed the nuances of the characters by a small percentage and came up with the flick. Being a celebrity doesn’t mean that one has to be politically correct and uptight. We live in a democratic society which gives us the right to freely express our opinion. I have absolutely no issues with the first two. Talking about Bhagat, he has the knack of getting embroiled in controversies – be his cheeky tweets or his comments against Narayan Murthy or his fight against the makers of 3 Idiots for credit as the writer of the movie. His latest novel ‘Revolution 2020’ is an excellent book and in my opinion, his best work till date.
I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Five Point Someone’ and ‘2 States’, found ‘One Night Call Center’ average and got bored to death with ‘The 3 Mistakes of my Life’. The reason for this ‘disclosure’ shall become clear shortly.Īt the same time, I have also read all the five novels written by Chetan Bhagat. Naipaul, Jhumpa Lahiri, Salman Rushdie, Taslima Nasreen and a few others while growing up. I think it would only be appropriate if at the beginning of this post I state that I have read authors like Roald Dahl, Ruskin Bond, Alfred Hitchcock, Michael Crichton, Jeffrey Archer, John Grisham, V.S.
